On August 11, 2017 a white supremacist March, dubbed "Unite the Right," climbed steps at University of Virginia campus in protest of decision to remove a statue of Robert E. Lee and were confronted there by antifascist demonstrators. Election of Donald Trump as President was catalyst, along with Republicans taking control of both House and Senate in the Congress.
On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse crossed above continental United States from Oregon to South Carolina (1st state to secede from the Union: December 20, 1860). A second one crosses from Texas to Maine on April 8, 2024. Vortex point is above Carbondale, Illinois. The Ohio and Mississippi Rivers meet in Cairo, also in the zone of totality for both eclipses. We as Americans have been given a warning to either wake up or perish as a nation!
In 1776, when Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, a solar eclipse occurred that year over America. Jefferson also founded the University of Virginia in 1819.
